A common cause of issues with the S-Tronic box is lack of maintenance, as with all mechanical components regular oil and filter* changes will keep the gears clean and free of possible debris. *Not all S-Tronic boxes have filters to change.

We are able to replace your worn Clutch pack with a brand new Original Equipment or Aftermarket Clutch Pack, this involves dropping the gearbox out and stripping it down, we are able to carry out this job within a working day, giving your S-Tronic box its bite back!

A common cause of S-Tronic Gearbox faults can be the Mechatronic Unit, essentially these units are the main control units of the S-Tronic box. These control units can become damaged by heat, electrical issues and excessive/erratic gear changes over a prolonged period of time.

DQ200 - 7-Speed Dry Clutch

The DQ200 is the first 7-speed DSG unit and the only one fitted with a dry clutch. There are a few known issues with this particular unit, however the most common fault found is excessive wear go the clutch.

DQ381 - 7-Speed Wet Clutch

The DQ381 is the 4WD version of the DQ380, it is mainly found in the newest generation of VW Golf R and Audi S3 7 speed DSG variants. The DQ381 has a higher torque capacity than the DQ380.

DQ500 - 7-Speed Wet Clutch

The DQ500 DSG box is also known as the 0BH/0BT gearbox and started life in the VW transporter range of vehicles due to it being the strongest DSG variant. It is also used in the latest Generation RS3 and TTRS as it can handle the higher power outputs of these vehicles.

DL501 - 7-Speed Longitudinal Wet Clutch

In late 2008 the all-new seven speed longitudinal S-Tronic version of the DSG transaxle went into production. Initially this unit was only used in Audi models with longitudinally mounted engines. The S-Tronic system uses 2 separate oil circuits

The main difference between the DSG and the S-Tronic boxes aside from the layout, is that the S-Tronic box uses 10 plates in the outer clutch (for odd gears) and 12 for the inner clutch (even gears)

I purchased a standard old Mk1 TT that was "looked after" in the Audi dealership before. I am always skeptic with such places so I googled a local garage with TT expertise and found this place. When I arrived I saw the Porsche GT-s and such in the yard and I thought maybe this is not my league. However staff was super nice and helpful, lifted the car up straight away and I saw one of their experts investigating the car, like an experienced doctor who exactly knows where to reach. They gave me a reasonable quote, did the job in the promised time frame, even added some extras. I never felt the "old lady" was less of a car than any of the others. The owner is very friendly, explained everything. I will stick with them and would definitely recommend them to anyone.
