Do you want to eliminate the fragile factory and lacklustre performing factory differential in your Lamborghini Huracan or R8 S-Tronic?
GV Performance located in London, dropped off their Huracan dual-clutch transmission to have the extremely popular and often not mentioned, Wavetrac LSD upgrade to compliment their Sheepey Race Twin Turbo build they are carrying out.
But why install a Wavetrac LSD if the factory gearbox already has a plate diff? Simple, the Lamborghini/Audi DSG plate differential has all of the conventional issues of a factory plate differential which are exacerbated with high output and high grip.
With the huge shock loads put through the differential from the huge increase in output, a huge increase in traction with sticky tyres and high grip tarmac this often causes the factory differential to fail and an incredibly expensive repair. The Wavetrac differential is specifically designed for high shock load use cases, perfect for a Twin Turbo Huracan.
As well as reliability the Wavetrac LSD also increases performance. Factory plate differentials are manufactured with different materials to proper motorsport differentials, this means that the friction material wears very quickly, losing performance and pre-load is lost quickly. This, mixed with the low locking force from the factory results in a diff that feels open, especially with an increase in output.
The Wavetrac solves this issue with their Automatic Torque Biasing design which smoothly biases power evenly across the axles and to the wheel with the most grip and can maintain performance when axle load is lost through suspension unloading, wheel slip and wheel lift. This is differential to other ATB differentials on the market as they perform like an open differential when axle load is lost.
We look forward to seeing GV Performance finishing their build and putting all that torque through the Wavetrac and into the tarmac for some super-fast sprint and mile times!
